Planning Permission Received For Solar Farm

Planning permission has been granted by Carlisle City Council for the creation of a 4-acre solar farm to be located on open farmland on the Brunthill Estate in the middle of Kingmoor Park.

Now that the planning consent has been granted. The project management team are preparing a schedule of work for the 3,000-ground mounted solar, photo voltaic panels each measuring 1.6 x 0.9m, to be installed.

The 4-acre solar farm could be up and running early next year providing 877,000kWh (kilo watt hours) of electricity per annum approximately equivalent to 15% of Kingmoor Park’s energy needs which will save around 250 tonnes of C02 per year.

Solar Maintenance Services look after around 50 megawatts of solar throughout the UK made up of other solar fields and some residential systems.

The solar farm will be located on Brunthill, an area of Kingmoor Park instrumental to the sites’ masterplan which will see a plan drawn out for new warehouses, office space and more developments in the coming years.
