ALS Laboratories (UK) Ltd is one of the UK’s leading analytical testing organisations. Each of its seven food testing facilities across the UK are UKAS accredited to ISO:17025. The sites are also approved by leading retailers such as Tesco and Marks & Spencer and by leading manufacturers such as Kellogg’s. In addition, ALS has a dedicated GMP compliant pharmaceutical testing in Ely.

ALS’ site in Carlisle – formerly known as Kingmoor Technical Services – is staffed by a highly qualified team of over 40 analysts who have many years of experience in processing food samples and swabs from a wide variety of food manufacturers, processors and distributors. Located just off the M6, ALS operates a fleet of temperature controlled vehicles which offer a flexible collection service to clients based in Cumbria, Lancashire, North East England and in Scotland.

Our microbiological testing capabilities at Carlisle include pathogen testing (Salmonella and Listeria) and testing for typical indicator organisms such as Clostridium Perfringens, Coliforms, E.Coli, Enterobacteriaceae, TVC’s and Yeast and Mould. Any samples requiring chemical analysis (nutritional, vitamins, contaminants, allergens, meat speciation) are transferred to our central ‘hub’ laboratory in Chatteris on a daily basis, therefore providing Carlisle clients with a genuine ‘One Stop Shop’ service.

ALS clients can also benefit by using our leading edge web-based portal, ‘WebTrieve’. ‘Webtrieve utilises the latest technology to provide clients with a quick, simple and secure method for registering samples on-line, reviewing their results and downloading test certificates.
